SAINT PAUL, MN – Rep. John Petersburg, R-Waseca, issued the following statement following the release of the February forecast budget update:

“I welcome the good news from today’s budget forecast. The improvements in Minnesota’s economy over the past two years have allowed the state to pay back money owed to our schools, and have shrunk the projected 2014-2015 deficit by almost $4 billion dollars. All of these improvements were made without raising taxes.

“As we continue to debate the best path forward to solve the remaining $627 million dollar budget gap, I hope we consider policies that will promote economic and job growth, and continue to grow Minnesota’s economy.”
