Nels Pierson, Minnesota State Representative from Rochester, will be coming to Owatonna on Monday, June 19 at the VFW Hall, 135 Oakdale Street, at 7pm.  All are invited to attend.  There is no charge and refreshments are served.  This event is being hosted by the Steele County Republican Party.

“We are extremely excited to have Nels Pierson come visit Owatonna and discuss the ins and outs of legal immigration. Nels has interesting and unique experiences to share with us.  He and his wife adopted their son, Mardoche, from the Dominican Republican of Congo.   He can also tell us about helping a recent couple from Spain and Mexico navigate their home purchase, His wealth of personal experience will make for a great program” said Pam Seaser, Steele County Republican BPOU Co-Chair.

Nels is a full-time realtor in Rochester and is married to Nicole, an architect.  They have three children.  He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College as well as received his J.D. from Hamline University.  He was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2014.

Nels’ committee assignments this session included Agriculture Finance, Agriculture Policy Capital Investment, and Health and Human Services Finance.

Nels was recently honored to receive an award from the Minnesota Commission of Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Minnesota.  Nels worked hard to increase funding for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division and appreciates the opportunity to advocate for the deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing.

“Our goal is to stay connected to the citizens of Steele County with national, regional and local topics of interest” said Pam Seaser.  “This is the second in a series of programs that the Steele County Republican BPOU has planned for the coming months.  Be sure to attend our July 17 forum when we host State Representative Matt Dean who is an expert on healthcare and is also running for Governor of Minnesota.  This is a great opportunity to meet knowledgeable speakers and be able to ask questions.”
