REP. MUELLER STATEMENT ON RELAXED DINING RESTRICTIONS

ST. PAUL – Last week, Governor Walz issued an Executive Order allowing indoor dining to reopen at 50% capacity. After the Executive Order went into effect, Representative Patricia Mueller, R-Austin, released the following statement.

“I am glad to see that our local restaurants and other businesses will be allowed to safely reopen beginning today,” said Mueller. “We have seen that they are able to operate safely as they serve their customers. As we have in the past, I know our community will come together to support our local businesses, and I look forward to dining at many of our local restaurants in the near future. While these loosened restrictions are encouraging, the only way to see true recovery is to allow these industries to have freedom to open completely. I look forward to working with the Governor and my colleagues to make this happen.”

Other restrictions modified by the Governor’s Executive Order include:

  • Gyms remain open at 25% capacity, with the maximum occupancy raised to 250.
  • Outdoor event capacity is raised to 250 at 25% capacity.
  • Indoor entertainment and events (bowling alleys, movie theaters, museums, etc.) may open at 25 percent with a cap of 150.
  • Youth and adult sports games may resume January 14 with spectators subject to the same indoor entertainment restrictions.
  • Pools are open at 25% capacity.
  • Wedding receptions and other “private parties” may resume with limits. If food and drink is served there is a limit of two households or 10 people indoors and 3 households/15 people outdoors. If there is no food/drink, they are covered by the event/entertainment restrictions.
  • Churches remain open at 50% but the overall capacity limit has been lifted so there is no maximum.
