Rep. Kurt Daudt on the Sick Tax:
The Sick Tax is a 2% tax on basically all medical and dental services that Gov. Dayton and the legislature in 2011 set to expire this year. Gov. Walz and House Democrats want to bring this $2.5 billion tax on sick people back to make their budgets balance.
What they won’t tell you is the federal government now pays for what the sick tax was originally created for. So why do they want it?
We have a billion dollar surplus that is growing, there is simply no need to be raising taxes on every Minnesotan who seeks medical care. Call Governor Walz and House Democrats and tell them we don’t need this extra tax.
