Dear Friends,

With next Friday marking the first committee deadline, committee hearings are taking up a bulk of our time in Saint Paul. Committee agendas are packed as legislators work to get their bills heard before March 20 so they can continue through the normal legislative process. Bills that don’t meet the first committee deadline must receive approval from the Rules Committee.

Nearly all of my bills have already met the first deadline, and are on track for possible inclusion in a larger omnibus bill or to possibly be voted on the floor.

In the coming weeks the House will be releasing our budget targets, which will set spending levels for what will be the House budget proposal. House Republicans will also be rolling out our comprehensive transportation plan that invests in our road and bridges without taking more money out of family budgets. I will be sure to send out an update on that when the plan is released.

Survey

Please take a few moments to take my 2015 Legislative Survey if you haven’t already. Thanks to those of you who already have submitted your answers. I look forward to reading your thoughts and feedback. Please pass the link along to your friends and neighbors as well so I can hear from them.

Have a great weekend,

John Petersburg
