Dear Friends,

Some updates from the Capitol:

Bipartisan Gun Legislation Introduced

Last week over 70 legislators held a press conference to introduce a bipartisan gun bill that would help keep guns out of the hands of violent felons and improve criminal data sharing for state and local law enforcement agencies. These are important fixes to existing laws that will help improve safety, and information sharing without restricting the second amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. The bill has the support of a number of law enforcement leaders, and I’m proud to be one of the 70 co-sponsors of the bill.

2013 Legislative Survey

Over the next week, copies of my 2013 legislative survey will be mailed out around the district. If you do not receive a copy in the mail, I hope you’ll go online and let me know your thoughts on the issues being debated at the Capitol. I’m in Saint Paul to represent and serve you, and I want to hear what you have to say. You can take the survey by clicking here.

Constituent Visits

I want to thank all of the constituents and groups that came to Saint Paul to visit this week. Those meetings included:

  • Staff and patients from the Open Door Health Center in Mankato visited as a part of their day on the hill.

  • Employees from Waseca County

  • Constituents Melissa & Mary visited to discuss a ban on wolf hunting.

  • Constituents visiting as a part of Arts Advocacy Day on the Hill.
As always, if you or a group you’re a part of plan to visit St. Paul, I hope you’ll consider stopping by my office. Please call my office at 651-296-5368 or email me at rep.john.petersburg@house.mn if you’d like to schedule a meeting.

Have a great week,

John Petersburg
