Dear friends,

Some updates from Saint Paul:

2013 Legislative Survey

Next week, I will be mailing out my 2013 legislative survey. Citizen input is crucial for legislators so we can best represent the views and opinions of our district, and I look forward to seeing the results and comments. If you do not receive a copy, and would like a copy mailed to you, please email me at rep.john.petersburg@house.mn or call my office at 651-296-5368.

The survey will also be available on my House website in the coming weeks, and I will be sure to email you a link once it is live.

District Visits

There were a number of student and agriculture groups who visited Saint Paul this week. It was wonderful to welcome 53 students from St. Mary’s School in Owatonna. Also visiting were a number of FFA students as well as the Farm America Board Members. I also had a chance to attend the Waseca County Farm Bureau Meeting at Farm America last week.

I try to attend as many in-district meetings and events as possible. If you have a meeting or event you would like to let me know about, please contact my office.

Highway 14 bill

Last week, HF211 received its first committee hearing in the Transportation Policy committee. HF211 establishes requirements regarding the completion of Highway 14 construction projects.

This was an important first step in the process of securing funding for the expansion of Highway 14, and I am proud to be a co-sponsor on this bill that is good for Owatonna and the surrounding communities and counties.

I will be sure to keep you informed on the progress of this bill, and other bills relating to the expansion of Highway 14. If you’d like to track the progress of HF211 yourself, you can view the latest status of the bill here: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/bill.php?b=House&f=HF211&ssn=0&y=2013.

Have a wonderful week,

John Petersburg

State Representative, District 24A
