We are encouraging Precinct Caucus attendees to sign up to be a paid election judge on Election Day or to be a volunteer poll watcher or observer.

You may sign up at the caucus or you may go to the Steele County Auditor’s office and sign up PREFERABLY before May 1

You may also let the Steele County Auditor know you are available to work/volunteer at another location in Minnesota if you are needed there.

Election judges are asked to work either a full day or a half-day on Election Day. (Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. with additional tasks after the polls closed.)  There will be required 2-hour training for election judges prior to Election Day.

If you know of others who are not attending the Precinct Caucus, you are encouraged to ask them to sign up to be judges, observers or poll watchers as well.

You must be eligible to vote in Minnesota and able to read, write and speak English. Students 16 and 17 years old can be election judge trainees.

There are restrictions on having relatives serve together as election judges. A relative is defined as a spouse, parent, stepparent, child, stepchild, sibling, or stepsibling.
